STANISLAV GROF

* Born 1931 in Prague, lives in California

Stanislav Grof is a psychiatrist, medical philosopher and psychotherapist. He is regarded as a pioneer in the study of unusual states of consciousness. After the consumption of LSD was prohibited in many countries, even for research purposes, Stanislav and his wife Christina developed the technique of Holotropic Breathwork. Grof is regarded as one of the co-founders of Transpersonal Psychology, a school of psychology that incorporates humanistic aspects, but also different religious and spiritual forms of experience. He helped found the ITA (International Transpersonal Association) in 1978.
Groaf is the author and publisher of numerous books, the most recent being “HR Giger and the Zeitgeist of the Twentieth Century,”, published by Nachtschattenverlag, Solothurn 2014.
